Jamie Lee Curtis Misses Out on One Piece Role Due to Scheduling Conflicts
Jamie Lee Curtis fans were excited by the possibility of her taking on the role of Dr. Kureha in the second season of the TV series One Piece. Recently, discussions emerged regarding Curtis's potential involvement in the series, leading to much anticipation among admirers of the actress.
Unfortunately, confirmation has come that Curtis will not be taking on the role. The show's producer, Becky Clements, conveyed this information during an interview with Deadline. According to Clements, Curtis adores the show but has numerous other film and TV commitments that conflict with the production schedule. Despite her enthusiasm, it proved impossible to align the dates due to her other projects.
In the same interview, Clements hinted that the role of Dr. Kureha has been filled by another talented individual, though she did not disclose the new actor's name. She expressed her excitement by stating that they have found an amazing person for the character.
Clements also shared insights into the series' production process. She praised the exceptional cast, production designers, stunt team, VFX team, and assistant directors. There is a significant effort involved, as they often prepare and film multiple episodes simultaneously, splitting actors and stunt teams across units.
The production involves both stage sets and on-location shoots, with a crew size ranging from 900 to 1,200 individuals. The creativity and professionalism in areas like wardrobe, hair, makeup, and prosthetics, the latter overseen by Jaco Snyman, are remarkable. Clements highlighted the inspiring dedication of the team, comparing it to a childlike eagerness to tackle the creative challenges presented by the unique and fertile imagination of the series’ creator, Oda.
At present, Netflix has not announced an official release date for the second season of One Piece, although it is expected to debut sometime in 2025.
