Phil Spencer Announces Xbox Games Expansion to Other Platforms

In an interesting development from the world of gaming, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Gaming confirmed that some Xbox-exclusive games will soon be playable on other platforms. During a recent podcast, he revealed that four games specifically will be making the transition, whilst maintaining ambiguity about the exact names of these games.

The announcement was made during a discussion about the future of the company involving, Spencer, President of Xbox, Sarah Bond, and Matt Booty, who heads Xbox Game Studios. Prior to this, there were whispers about a potential release for various Xbox games on popular platforms namely PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

The decision to migrate was driven by a strategic planning for the long-term growth of Xbox. By deploying the strengths of other gaming platforms, Xbox aims to enhance its franchises leading to overall development. Spencer, in his words, stated that while these steps were not geared towards diluting the Xbox brand, their idea was to leverage other platforms to bolster the company’s growth.

Speculation was soon put to rest as Spencer ruled out Starfield or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the list of games crossing platforms. Instead, games over a year old and some community-driven games were in the purview for transitioning. Some smaller games that were not initially intended to be platform exclusives would also feature in this change.

Despite the transition, Spencer emphasized not to consider this as an indication of more exclusives making the move to different platforms. The primary intention remains to strengthen the Xbox platform with a firm assurance that every decision made is in alignment with the long-term health of Xbox. Furthermore, the company highlighted some of the best Xbox Series X games and PC games to the gaming community while discussing future plans.
