Remedy's Alan Wake 2: A Herculean Task in Game Development
At the Finnish company Remedy, the development process for major games differs to that of big-name titles like Starfield and Grand Theft Auto VI. Rather than an extensive team involved for several years, the upcoming release of Alan Wake 2 at the end of October has been brought to life solely by 130 people over a four-year period, according to Remedy's Head of Communications, Thomas Puha.
This team has overcome a myriad of challenges - including the pandemic - to deliver what Puha believes to be the hardest game that they've ever developed. Despite this, Alan Wake 2 manages to keep up with larger companies in terms of resources and talent.
This technically advanced game, set to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X on October 27, will boast full path tracing and DLSS 3.5 support for optimal visual quality on high-spec PCs.
